About the Artist

In 1982 she was awarded her post-graduate diploma in Sculpture from the City and Guilds School, London following her 1981 first-class degree in sculpture from Norwich School of Art.

Vanessa Pooley has been elected Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors (FRSBS) and is recognised as one of the best figurative mid-career sculptors working in the UK today. She follows very much in the British tradition of Henry Moore but has created a style that is her own crediting both Matisse and Bottero as powerful influences. Her work is exquisitely made and her patinas are a secret formula.

Pooley has found great success in the UK and has shown with Fine Art Consultancy in the USA, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. She has been featured widely in the British Press including the Sunday Telegraph and the Guardian. Pooley has also appeared on numerous television programmes (most recently ITV’s evening news) and has been interviewed by Radio 4 in the UK.
