Born in Osaka in the 50’s, educated at Camberwell School of Art in 1999 (receiving the top award in her year) Tomoko Matsumoto now lives in Paris. Her work has a strong narrative quality drawing it’s content of from her childhood memories of growing up in Japan in the 60’s. The etchings are exquisitely executed; the artist utilises a traditional technique in her etching with aquatint.

Matsumoto shows extensively in Europe and Japan and her work is in both public and private collections in both countries.

In 2009 and 2011 she was shown in the 7th/8th British International Print Exhibition in the UK and in 2008 in the 53rd CWAJ Print Show, Tokyo/Kobe JAPAN. For the last eight years her work has appeared in the prestigious exhibition of The Japan Print Association, Tokyo at the Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo. Her work is in the Osaka City Art museum, Osaka JAPAN and the Print Biennale, Ohnojo Madokapia, Fukuok JAPAN.
