Padraig MacMiadhachain was an Irish painter born in Downpatrick, 1929. He studied first at the Belfast College of Art and after at the National College of Art in Dublin.

He often painted scenes from around the Dorset Coast in St Ives in Cornwall where he was an associate member of the Penwith Society of Arts, and Buenos Aires, from which he took inspiration for a more vibrant colour scheme.

MacMiadhachain held solo exhibitions across London, Madrid, Ireland, Krakow and the US, with The Molesworth Gallery in Dublin hosting a retrospective of his work in 1999.
