Fraser Taylor, British, oils and works on paper. Born in 1960 Taylor graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a first class degree in painting and the Royal College of Art with a distinction in printmaking in the 1980’s and immediately founded the internationally acclaimed textile company ‘The Cloth’.
In 2014 Taylor was featured in ‘Fashion of the 80’s’ at the ‘Victoria and Albert Museum’ London finally acknowledged as one of the most influential textile designers of the 1980’s.. In the late 1980’s Taylor began to concentrate on painting and had sell out shows at the Jill George Gallery in London. He is now represented by Fine Art Consultancy in London and has galleries in Sydney, New York, San Francisco and Chicago.
He is currently a permanent Adjunct Professor of Textile Art at the Institute of Art in Chicago. His most recent project was with the Baryshnikov Art Centre in New York in May where he designed the backdrops to a ballet which was favourably reviewed in publications such as the New York Times.
Taylor is typical of all artists in our stable; through his work he explores the cross cultural influences of their lives and draw their own conclusions!
