A Sculptor who uses found materials he works on large and small scale and often seems to create something from nothing.

An earlier show in Tokyo featured tiny carved sculptures: “Whilst playing on great themes in a small way I plan intricate precise carving. Perhaps the power of many of these objects will be found in that very smallness.”

Recently Stewart’s work is based on workplace health & safety signs which are reproduced as wood block prints in traditional mass production technique. “These reflect concerns about work practice, the value of people and effects on the environment and about what may be simply a vested interest and not a concern about the world”.
